Colony morphology of strain SMC 256T was observed on ISP 3 (28 °C, 37 days). The type strain producing diffusible orange-yellow pigment on ISP 2, 3, 5 and JCM 42 agar, was isolated from a soil sample collected in a mountain forest in Chonburi province, Thailand.
