In complex media, cells exhibit a rod-coccus growth cycle. Cells of exponentially growing cultures are irregular rods, arranged in pairs, palisades or irregular clusters. In the stationary growth phase cells are coccoid and occur singly, in pairs, short chains or clusters. Cells are non-motile and none-spore-forming.
