The Genus Frankia is found in root nodules of about 25 genera of woody plants. Atmospheric nitrogen is fixed inside the nodules as do the frankiae if isolated in pure culture. Polymorphic sporangia of Frankia sp., strain ULQ ACN 1, isolated from nodules of Alnus viridis subsp. crispa. Light microscopy.
